From Knowing to Becoming

Three years old, reading
Agatha Christie

Everything was obvious.
Numbers danced in patterns.
Words always fit together.
Answers came, often before
the questions were formed.

Never effort, only inevitability
What triumph in winning when
the race is already won?
Why value myself, when
success was a given?

Alone, because I didn’t
know anyone else like me,
but not lonely as long as
there were books to read

After decades, an inflection point.
Nothing made sense. And then …
a realization that there is a
path to belonging, to creativity,
to balance, to becoming who
I am truly meant to be
